Age: 6-10 years I have a 5-6 year old bottom freezer refrigerator that just decided to stop cooling the frig. Tool owners manual. The freezer stays nice and cold but there is no air flow in the frig. So far this is what I have read in the manual and checked: 1. Freezer control is on 2.

Lights in freezer and frig are working 3. Door seal is good 4.

Cleaned condenser coil 5. Checked that damper in upper part of frig is not closed If I place my hand in front of the vent in the freezer air will blow out the vent in the frig.

I have removed the cover in the freezer and there is no damper that redirects the air to the frig. This model does have a automatic defrost and I believe I found the timmer in front of the condenser coils. With the compressor running if I turn the dial 90 deg the compressor shuts off and about another 10 deg the compressor starts to run again. I am wondering if I have another fan between the frezzer and the frig vent that has gone bad but there appears to be no way to check the middle of the frig nor does the picture in the manual show an additional fan. I have attached the image.

I am not getting air flow from #2 to the top of the frig. Can anyone help with some advice?

Thanks in advance. I wish I had the entire model number. I looked high and low on the outside and inside and found nothing. The only reason I knew the 596 part was that is all that was typed in the manual. Anyway, I have some good news and hope this may help someone else. After a few hours of sitting back and thinking about how the system works I decided even though this frig has a auto defrost I would remove all the food and unplug for 4-5 hours. After returning to resume the trouble shooting I decided to remove the shelves and look down the air return, the area behind #8 in the picture.

I was happy, yes happy, to see a block of ice. So being the adventures type, I decided to remove the cover in the freezer, part in front of #4 in the pic., and found that the ice went from the vent in the frig floor to the bottom of the freezer and under the defrost heater. I used a hair dryer to melt what was left and bingo, good as new. Thank you Jake and Mad Mac for the response I really found some other useful info in this forum.
